Two more rejections for "Home and Home Again"

My short story, “Home and Home Again,” has received two more rejections.

The magazine 10x10x10 is for people who have written 10 stories and has at least 10 rejections. When the editor has 10 stories she wants to publish, then the online magazine is published. Thus the name 10x10x10. I received a 3 day rejection:

The central conflict is interesting, but you have overwritten to the max, explaining every nuance of the characters' emotions, thoughts, etc. when it is not really necessary. Try to imply emotions and events without going on at length about them--trust your reader to connect the dots.

I just got word today from Barn Owl Review. I didn’t think my story was a good fit there, but they are a new magazine and I thought I’d give it a try. This rejection took 34 days.

I think I’ll hang this story up for a little bit. I hope to do some catching up on things and then will be able to do some more writing. I still have a column entry to finish and I have a true-to-life story I would like to write. Many in a few months, I’ll be able to have some of my writer friends look over this piece again and see what they have to say to make it a stronger piece.
